The New Essentials
It’s just a tad difficult to give up old essentials for the new. Give up knowing the latest or trying to decipher it in the spiritual war raging around us? Oh no, no can do. We have to know what we‘re talking about when we say “I do not consent”. Give up getting involved in the dramas of family and friends? That’s just being selfish and detached. No can do. Give up relaxing with the phone and all its interesting titbits of information or videos? What would my world and my life come to? No can do. The list goes on…..
Yes, it’s difficult. And not just a little, (never mind the thing about perspective). Especially when we, in weak moments, consider the new essentials we have had the courage to dedicate ourselves to: self-awareness, yoga, clean diet, self-love, taking an honest look at self without the judgment, focus and discipline in all that constitutes a conscious journey…….
That’s in our weak moments. In the ever increasing moments of accomplishment, mastery, empowerment and grace, we are appreciative of all that we have done to bring us to this space, we are fired up with enthusiasm to keep moving, keep growing, we enjoy the new fun things we are creating. We know there’s more and more and every bit of it is an exciting fit into the large jigsaw puzzle of all that we are.
The weak moments still come up, but not as often as before.

The Dragonfly Lands At Night
The Dragonfly Lands At Night
Soft as a tiny feather on you, the softly nurtured energy of you cushioned by self-care and the gentle love of self. The dragonfly lands because in all the spaces that it potentially could, your invitation is the gentlest and the most secure. It is significant, this act of the butterfly, because it is testament to your dedication to self.
Does this etheric dragonfly land on you as you drift into sleep at night? Because you have taken the time to pay attention to yourself, to soothe the jangled nerves caused by the upsets of the day, to ease your body through breath, sound or flow of harmonious energy, to raise your vibration thru long moments of quiet self-love and acceptance.
The dragonfly lands on you because there is no other place it would rather be. As you drift off to sleep, you too know that you are masterfully creating the ability to create the safe haven of your innermost being at any time you choose!

A Different Drumbeat
This moment comes to all on a spiritual journey, once or maybe more often.
Am I just going around in circles? How much progress am I really making?
The one thing that really gets this questioning going is repetitive experiences.
Same type of relationship…
Same trigger, same reaction, slightly different circumstances…
Same habit, same behavior when under pressure…
Until one day we realize we are trying to use the same drumbeat to get a different sound.
Change is inevitable. When we make the choice to change our drumbeat because we are done with the sameness of experiences, we are setting out a firm intention for love-based outcomes based on the inner work we do. That inner work which is also inevitable to create the different drumbeat for a different sound.
The altered ego finds safety in sameness and familiar, the soul gets ignited by every nuance away from the mundane and usual. With each new experience, we are in ever-expanding movement back into the vastness of our being. And the joy keeps unfurling!

The Light Touch
The conscious journey is about the light touch. No grinding and gritting the teeth, the way we do when we first start out because the terrain is unknown. We feel lost or overwhelmed, but we keep on. This time we’re not giving up, no matter what. Like that clock ticking in the background – we’ve got to hurry.
Yes, we created the illusion of time but it’s a damn good illusion. It doesn’t let us be. We certainly can’t watch the grass growing, what an absolute waste of time!
Then, of course, there are those times. The times when we feel low and discouraged, when the mind grind doesn’t stop even when we reach the bottom most rungs of miserable, when we’ve judged ourselves for the umpteenth time for that incredibly awkward thing we did last Tuesday which led to this altercation and that wretched outcome.
That’s when you might consider sipping a delicious elixir, while contemplating your knee. There has to be some wisdom gained from that awesome part of the body. Just that, an easy gaze, maybe even a loving one, not letting your mind flit anywhere else till a deep calm and peace settles into you.
They say time is an illusion. You say, that’s true.

Sweep The Mundane Away
“No man ever steps in the same river twice for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man” – Heraclitus
When you first dip your toes in the river, the water that wets them came from a small stream that joined the river from the left of the acacia tree. The cool temperature of the water brought you relief from the heat. When you dipped the other foot, the struggle of the fish against the fisherman’s hook upstream had changed the energy of the water. You noticed the kingfisher as it flew in a bright flash of blue and your heart burst with joy.
Awareness is key on the conscious journey. We do the same things every day – dishwashing, cooking, driving to work, taking the dog for a walk, eating lunch. Each time something is different. Have you noticed what it is?
A fun game to play to sweep the mundaneness away, be in the moment and increase our awareness!

The Seeds of Empowerment

There’s much to be said and enjoyed about the state of victimhood.
– We have no responsibility. Almost everything is somebody else’s fault.
– It’s truly enjoyable. Otherwise, why in the name of all that is spiritual, would we wallow in it
for so long?
– We learn the fine arts of manipulation and emotional blackmail.
– We do not have to be creative about finding solutions to our problems. They are for others
to sort out.
– We get attention, loads of it from people who have loads of victimhood or guilt or sacrifice
running in their veins. -

Pause Is Not A Bad Word
When we lost the art of contemplation, we lost an essential part of our magic. It began at a fairly early age – quick, you’ve got to catch the bus, you’ve got to this to do or that, give me an answer quick etc. etc. And before you knew it, your contemplation of the tablespoon or the butterfly, your mother’s words or your own fantastic idea that had just popped up came to an end.
The loss has affected us deeply. We are thought. When we do not take the time to nurture our love-based thoughts, contemplate them so that we embody that truth, saturate our being with the joy that this art form creates within us, we lose out – in refining our manifestation, activating more and more of our creative abilities and allowing the once impossible to be truly and excitingly possible.

The Unconquerable Within Us
Inner worthiness is that glue that keeps us together when those around us are doing their darnest to get us back into the fold of conformity and they don’t care what methods they use. Unfortunately, it’s not there when we first come out of the closet of hiding our spiritual leanings.
It is something we gather and hold within from the harvest of our dedication to knowing ourselves as more than just the limited human beings we have been led to believe we are.

Intrinsically tied to self-love and self-honour, inner worth is unassailable. Once anchored within us, no one can shake it. The opposite is true when we judge our worth according to how others think of us, our successes/failures, our achievements or lack of them. That’s when we bounce around like a yo-yo, buffeted by the fickle nature of the very things that support our false sense of worth. The process of regaining our awesome inner worthiness begins by letting go of the imprints of shame and unworthiness in our childhood and it brings relief the more we acknowledge, accept and know ourselves as Source!

The Cactus In The Desert
None of us could have quite imagined ourselves as truly complex beings when we first awakened. This truth becomes glaringly obvious when we work on an issue, we do the shadow work, inner work, release this or that about it. And just when we finally think it’s resolved, it pops up again with the sturdy resilience of a cactus. It seems we hadn’t tackled this aspect or that angle.
This can sometimes cause us to think of giving up the conscious journey. Well, we just think that but don’t actually do it because we realise we are the glorious desert in which that pesky cactus grows, we realise that we have the power and the fortitude to keep moving forward because to do otherwise – to give up – is just not a part of our make-up anymore.

The Quest for the Holy Grail
The quest for the Holy Grail and variations of the same in almost every culture across the globe led to a seeking of something outside of ourselves. It was very elusive, with an unquantifiable magic and indescribable abilities. No one was quite sure what it was. Legends and myths through the ages were clear on one thing, it was to be sought after because it would bestow unlimited powers on the triumphant finder.
